Also called Parson in the Peas. Playford instructs the 1st couple to lead up at the same time that the 2s lead down. Clearly, one couple will go in the middle and the other on the outside, but Playford does not tell us which (there may have been a 'protocol' for this). Neither does Playford instruct couples to return to place but clearly they must, to continue the dance. This is an example of the the way Playford did not include instructions for movements that were unavoidable. Whether you return backwards or forwards, I leave to you.
